Little People Collector Voltron 40th Anniversary Gold Label Set
Lead Graphic Designer
For the 40th Anniversary of the original animated tv show Voltron, the Little People Collector team at Fisher-Price were tasked with designing collectable figures as a commemoration. Our team came up with the idea of using unique environmental packaging to create five unique lion-bot packages that combine to form the robot Voltron; all housed within a larger package for storage.
As someone who used to watch the original show growing up, I was beyond thrilled to be the lead graphic designer on this project. I illustrated each individual lion-bot package with vector art and black linework in select areas; In tandem with hits of spot gloss on highlighted colors, this becomes reminiscent of the comic book style artwork that the original series used to render the animation. For the outer packaging art, I used deep blue colors for the circuit board and metal paneling graphics – a nod to the Castle of Lions, the spaceship that was home to the crew and lion bots as they traveled across the galaxy. The circuit board lines all have hits of spot gloss so that they shimmer to give the packaging a lively electronic look and a tactile feel.
